WROC HOSTS ABELL – TORNATTA DEBATE SEPT. 9 AT EVANSVILLE’S CENTRAL LIBRARY

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –  A Sept. 9 debate between Vanderburgh County Commissioner candidates Marsha Abell (Rep.) and incumbent Troy Tornatta (Dem.) will be open to the public at Central Library Browning Rooms A and B. The debate begins at 6 p.m.

The Sept. 9 debate will be hosted by local group WOMEN Right of Center (WOMEN R.O.C.).

In addition, WOMEN R.O.C. will host a debate on September 28 between Vanderburgh County Prosecutor candidates Nick Hermann (Rep.) and incumbent Stan Levco (Dem.). This event will begin at 6 p.m. at Central Library.

“Our group plans these public events because we feel it is so important for the community to be informed about the issues before they step into the voting booth,” notes Holli Sullivan, president of Evansville-based Women Right of Center. “We’re not about endorsing one party over the other at such events. Our mission is to promote knowledge and involvement in politics and the community.”

Vanderburgh Assessor Candidate Bill Fluty, Jr. To Address WROC Meeting August 24

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Vanderburgh County Assessor candidate Bill Fluty, Jr. will speak at a meeting of local group WOMEN Right of Center (W.R.O.C.) on Tuesday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Oaklyn Library. The public is invited.

Fluty, who is currently serving his second term as Vanderburgh County Auditor, will run for the Vanderburgh County Assessor’s office this November against incumbent Jonathon Weaver.

At the meeting Fluty will explain the roles of County Auditor and County Assessor in detail and share his views on why people should understand the function of these offices and why it is important to cast an informed vote for both of them. Fluty also will answer questions from the audience.

VA’s Specially Adapted Housing Program Cites Contributions by Jagoe Homes

OWENSBORO, Ky. The Department of Veterans Affairs recently cited Jagoe Homes with a certificate of appreciation for the construction of a new home that has specially-adapted features to accommodate the use of assistive equipment. The home was built for an injured Kentucky veteran.

The certificate says, in part, “…On behalf of the Secretary of Veteran Affairs in recognition of a most significant contribution to the Specially Adapted Housing Program…” The Specially Adapted Housing Program requires compliance to strict guideless in adapting veterans’ homes for special needs.

“It was very satisfying to complete this home and see how it allowed one of our veterans to live his daily life with fewer obstacles and challenges,” said Jagoe Homes co-owner Bill Jagoe. “We hope to work more with the VA on the construction of specially adapted homes.”

Cited this year as a leader in lean building initiatives, Jagoe Homes also received the 2010 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award and is the area’s only builder to be named on the 2009 Builder 100 list of the nation’s top builders by Builder Magazine. Since its founding in Owensboro in 1939, Jagoe has built more than 6,000 homes in the Owensboro, Henderson, Louisville and Bowling Green, Kentucky areas and in Evansville and Newburgh, Indiana.

Risley’s George Brown Earns Sony Television Certification

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Risley’s Electronics sales associate George Brown recently completed training to earn his Sony Television Certification. The certification represents Brown’s expertise concerning current SONY television technology.

Risley’s is an electronics and custom electronic systems seller with locations in Evansville, Owensboro and Vincennes. The locally-owned family business has been serving the Tri-State area for 52 years.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Vanderburgh County Commissioner candidates Marsha Abell (Rep.) and incumbent Troy Tornatta (Dem.) will come together in a debate on September 9 at Central Library. The event, open to the public, will be hosted by local group WOMEN R.O.C. in Browning Rooms A and B; start time is 6 p.m.

“Marsha and Troy are at the top of the ticket for both local parties and we appreciate their committing to this debate because it’s important for the public to be informed — and to vote,” says Holli Sullivan, president of Evansville-based WOMEN Right of Center, a group promoting knowledge and involvement in politics and community.

WOMEN R.O.C. also has extended debate invitations to contenders for Indiana State Representative positions in District 74: Sue Ellspermann (Rep.) vs. incumbent Russ Stilwell; District 75: Ron Bacon (Rep.) vs. Mike Goebel (Dem.); and District 77: Cheryl Musgrave (Rep.) vs. incumbent Gail Riecken (Dem.).

Confirmed dates and locations for these debates will be announced by Women R.O.C. in the near future.
