Jagoe on National Top 100 Builder List: Named by Builder Magazine

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Owensboro, Ky. – Jagoe Homes has been placed on the Top 100 Builder List, an annual national ranking issued by industry publication Builder Magazine.

Jagoe reported 2009 as one of its most productive years since 2003, with significant increases in sales and market share. In contrast, according to the Congressional Budget Office, 2009 closed with the nation’s lowest number of housing starts — fewer than one million units — for only the second time since 1945.

The Owensboro-based, family-owned builder expects 43 percent growth during 2010 with plans to build 349 homes or more.

Jagoe attributes its 2009 sales and market share increases to energy-efficient construction practices  and the culmination of a five-year lean-building initiative that has systematically reduced costs by eliminating wasted time and materials.

“Partnering with our sub-contractors to really refine our lean-building processes has allowed us to increase the value of the homes we build without raising the price,” states Jagoe Homes co-owner Bill Jagoe. “That has positioned us to remain competitive in the marketplace.”

This year Jagoe Homes was cited as a leader in lean building initiatives by HousingZone.com. Jagoe also received the 2010 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award for contributions to home construction that reduces energy usage and the emission of greenhouse gases.

Jagoe Homes is the area’s only builder to be named to the national Builder 100 list.

Founded in Owensboro in 1939, Jagoe builds homes, condominiums and communities in the Owensboro, Henderson, Louisville and Bowling Green, Ky. areas and in Evansville and Newburgh, Ind.
