August 13th, 2010

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Local jeweler Kruckemeyer & Cohn will kick off a city-wide treasure hunt — The Diamond Dash — on Sunday, Sept. 12.  The “treasure” will be a $12,000 Hearts On Fire diamond ring.

During the hunt up to 250 couples will use their cell phones to receive clues and riddles that will help them find the secret location of the diamond ring. Kruckemeyer & Cohn has partnered with SCVNGR Inc to turn Evansville into a “real world board game” for The Diamond Dash.

To participate in the hunt, couples must submit their love stories to Kruckemeyer & Cohn at www.KandCDiamondDash.com. The stories will be reviewed and couples who are chosen will be invited to participate in the game. The deadline for submitting stories is Friday, Sept. 10 at 11:59 p.m. CST.

The Sept. 12 treasure hunt will begin at Evansville’s Casino Aztar Events Plaza at 11 a.m., rain or shine. The winning couple will be announced and the Hearts On Fire diamond ring presented at a 2 p.m. after-party at the Events Plaza. An on-stage proposal may even follow.

Marsha Abell Speaks about the Potential Hike in Sewer Rates

July 6th, 2010

Evansville – As a Vanderburgh County Commissioner candidate, I am extremely concerned about the City of Evansville’s desire to substantially increase our sewer rates.  The Evansville City Council will hold a public hearing and vote on the proposed rate hike on July 12, 2010.

Unfortunately, neither the Vanderburgh County Commissioners nor the Vanderburgh County Council will have an opportunity to vote on the City of Evansville’s proposal to hike sewer rates in the City and the County.  It is not right that those who reside in the County have no voting input on this extremely important decision to raise our sewer rates.

Although there may be a need by the City of Evansville to spend additional funds to make improvements in the City sewer system, there must be a better way to allocate the costs associated with such improvements.

As your next Vanderburgh County Commissioner, you can be sure that I will not sit back and let the City of Evansville hike our sewer rates like it is attempting to do in this instance.
